Making new friends and singing together
Songwires is a choir workshop for children in school years one to six. Children who sign up to the project will be given online access to lyrics and recordings of the songs before coming together for rehearsals and a performance. As well as this, they will receive a CD and song words in the post, meaning that wherever they live in the county, they can enjoy the carefully-selected programme of music before meeting the rest of the choir and singing together. Run by a professional singer and a primary music specialist, Songwires seeks to emphasise fun and inclusivity in music. The children will sing songs from a broad range of musical styles and will also have the opportunity to form friendships with children from different areas and schools. As the children will learn the music at home using their CDs and online resources, rehearsals will take place over just two weekends: the afternoons of Saturday 28th February and Sunday 1st March, and Sunday 8th March. For more details about Songwires, please look out for our flyers, coming out in January 2015, or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
