Building partnerships between musicians and special schools - webinar

Particularly suitable for musicians and organisations working or hoping to work in special schools, and school staff including senior leaders, music coordinators, teachers and TAs. This webinar will explore the many facets of successful partnerships between musicians and special schools. The webinar will take the form of a discussion between three professionals coming from very different perspectives. Julie Green, iMuse Coordinator at Accessible Arts & Media, and former music coordinator at a special school Britta Koerber, project manager and Director of Soundtracks at Jessie's Fund Catherine Barr, former Assistant Headteacher in a special school The three panelists will discuss a wide range of topics, taking into account the needs and priorities of both sides of a partnership, including: Initiating a partnership Agreeing aims and objectives, and aliging these with existing frameworks Timetabling and logistics Communication and using Safeguarding and the needs of participants

Led by trained Career Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) mentor Deborah Welch, this short webinar offers hints and tips for securing work as a freelance music practitioner, and will provide essential tools for communicating what you have to offer. Making that first connection with a potential new setting can be tough. Deborah will help you identify what they might be looking for – and how you can demonstrate that you have the required skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask specific questions about your own situation.

The NYMAZ SEND Music Network presents 'Music at Welburn Hall School: A Case Study'. Welburn Hall School is a North Yorkshire County Council maintained special school, where music is an important part of school life for all pupils.This films explores some of the reasons why music is valued so highly at the school, and demonstrates why the transformative potential of music cannot be underestimated.
