It's all about jazz!

Richmond Jam Established in 2009 by Chris Powls (Richmond Jazz Festival). Richmond Jam offers young people 11 to 19 years old creative workshops to develop improvisation, technique and composition. Sessions run throughout the year at Richmond Youth Centre. A series of Young Jammers bitesize sessions are available to schools and interested young people (6 years and over). Sessions are a combination of guest-led with industry professionals and self-led to develop leadership skills of participants. This project is part of the NYMAZ Fund C project delivery part funded by the National Federation for Youth Music. Arts Award mentoring and support will be available throughout our sessions for young people seeking to gain an Arts based qualification. Gold award also qualifies for UCAS points. Similar in format to DofE (Duke of Edinburgh Award) participants learn and share new skills and undertake project activities over an agreed period of time. Sessions will be held during term time at Leyburn Arts and Community Centre to allow dedicated workspace to develop ideas and evidence. [Some additional costs for workbooks, certification and moderation may apply]
