CREATIVE INDUSTRIES UNMASKED ON TOUR 2015

Considering a creative career? Struggling with study options? Or Confused about career pathways?
FREE EVENT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO MEET LOCAL PROFESSIONALS FROM RICHMONDSHIRE

Thursday 5 March
6.30pm - 8.30pm
The Green Howards Museum

Trinity Church Square, Richmond, DL10 4QN

Young people in years 9 to 13 and their parents/carers are invited to Creative Industries Unmasked On Tour 2015, a free event where they can explore potential pathways in the creative industries with knowledgeable, local professionals, to be held on Thursday 5 March, 6.30 – 8.30pm at The Green Howards Museum in Richmond.

A broad range of arts organisations and businesses representing the worlds of film, design, heritage, music, theatre and art will be on hand to showcase their work, to discuss their personal experiences and to explain the various career routes open to young people.

Designed to have an informal, marketplace atmosphere, each organisation will host a stall. They include Swaledale Festival, Purple Creative Studio,  Richmond Cultural Education Partnership (The Green Howards Museum, The Georgian Theatre Royal and The Station) and the Arts Tarts Gallery.

NYMAZ, the youth music development charity, is staging the event along with partners Richmondshire District Council, Cape UK, North Yorkshire Music Hub and Richmond Cultural Education Partnership.

Heidi Johnson, director of NYMAZ, highlights the importance of the event: “We hope that this event will help demystify the creative industries and help inform study choices and career pathways. The sector employs over 1.5 million people in the UK and offers a wealth of career options – yet, it can often be difficult for young people to understand the range of job opportunities available or the skills and qualifications required.

We are very excited that Richmondshire’s thriving creative businesses and organisations will be sharing their passion and industry expertise with the district’s young people. We hope it will be an inspiring event which stimulates ideas and broadens horizons.”
