For those of you who haven’t heard of Music For Two it is one of NYMAZ’s long standing projects in partnership with The Army Welfare Services (AWS).
Now in its 5th year, Music For Two is a family friendly and successful initiative working with parents/carers and their children aged 0-2 years in Catterick. Music For Two creates a welcoming environment and promotes positive interaction between parent/carer and child through music.
Earlier this year Music For Two welcomed new music leader Bryony Harris, who has put her own creative stamp on the sessions, introducing new songs, props and musical toys to the repertoire. Bryony plans for the ages and development stages of participants to create the best musical experience possible for everyone who attends!
Bryony says that “Week by week it is a lovely experience seeing the smiles on children’s faces. It’s pleasing when a new song works really well or when I try new ideas I’ve learnt and see how much it is enjoyed!”
The weekly sessions allow children to explore singing, new instruments, live music, and movement and are led by experienced music leader Bryony. The group also offers parents/carers an opportunity to meet others in their communities and make friends in a relaxed and supportive setting.
“We enjoy the lovely quiet atmosphere, the mixture of activities instruments and toys”
The sessions are gradually building up regulars which is fantastic to see and Kerry Palmer from AWS says:
With more regular participants it is an exciting time to see Music For Two grow and the Music For Two community to develop and build together.
For those of you who may want to attend these sessions; sessions are free and travel costs are reimbursed. Sessions run on Mondays 10.00 – 11.30am at Catterick Garrison click here for more information!
Music For Two is part of the NYMAZ Play It Loud programme, funded by Youth Music.
