Rural Fest 2022 - Composers Open Call!

Composers aged 13+ Rural Fest are looking for submissions to be featured as part of Rural Fest 2022!

Our theme is everything rural and the environment - so if you would like the opportunity to develop your creative skills and have your composition played at our festival then apply today!

We are looking for a short composition for any instrumentation. It can be a selection of field recordings mixed together as a soundscape, a solo instrumental piece, improvisational jazz or anything you fancy writing for!
Please respond to the following brief:

What does ‘rural’, ‘nature’ or ‘environment’ mean to you? How will you convey this through music?

We can’t wait to hear it!

Your interpretations can be up to 5 minutes long, and these compositions will be featured on our family friendly musical walk around the festival itself. So come along and join us!

Submission entries close on Monday 13 June 2022 at midnight
Rural Fest itself is on Saturday 25th June 2022

Submit your composition as an mp3 or mp4 file emailed to ruralfest@nymaz.org.uk, with a short blurb about you and your composition!

Make Music Day is showcased both nationally and internationally. In the last couple of years, our livestreams have been viewed across the world in countries such as Tokyo, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Italy as well as being very well interacted with here in the UK.
Excitingly, we will be publishing blogs and hosting panel discussions and interviews with our composers/performers before the festival and on the day. These will be conducted by our Rural Fest young music journalists to further help boost your profile and influence.
Rural Fest 2022 is a fantastic opportunity to have your music heard by a widespread new audience!
