Are you 16 to -25 and interested in working in Live Music Events?

Apply to be on our Production team for Rural Fest 2021 as part of the NYMAZ Youth Voice programme. Join the team to produce the second Rural Fest as part of the international festival Make Music Day!

Last year saw our super team broadcast live performances from 7am – 11pm all online. We reached audiences across the world, and 2350 people on the day from 1958 separate devices!

This year we are hoping to make it bigger and better – and we would love you to be a part of it!

What’s it all about?

NYMAZ are looking for North Yorkshire’s young and aspiring events producers to take part in this exciting free programme…Rural Fest! NYMAZ are offering motivated young people aged 16 to 25 the opportunity to kick start their professional network, develop their careers and gain experience of working within the music, charity and events sectors.

The Rural Fest Programme includes:

- An induction meeting with the Rural Fest Team
- A four week mini- course as part of NYMAZ PODs (Professional Opportunity and Development programme)
- Teaming you up with a professional mentor to help guide and support you through this journey
- The opportunity to programme and deliver music activities as part of the international festival, Make Music Day!
- Support to gain an Arts Award qualification

What are the roles?

NYMAZ are recruiting candidates to work in the Production, Programming and Communications teams for Rural Fest 2021.

Gain hands-on experience of live music production, working with our vibrant and dynamic team alongside leading industry experts. We are hoping to deliver some elements of this festival in person – but we will also be looking at live-streaming and keeping an online element to support accessibility. So, if you want to give it a go, have something to offer, feel bursting with ideas, a love of music, and a desire to help make more happen – then we want to hear from you!

All roles require you to work closely with the NYMAZ team and all other members of the production team to ensure the successful outcome of Rural Fest 2021.

Programme Coordinator

This role is for someone who wants to develop their skills and lead on the overall coordination of the festivals programme and its music activities across the county with NYMAZ support. You will be working closely with NYMAZ Music Ambassadors and the rest of the production team to design and implement a series of musical events.

We are wanting someone with good communication and organisational skills. You must have a desire to discuss and share creative ideas with your team, be able to listen to others, and to inspire and empower young people to share their voices in creating the first ever Rural Fest.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a plan of activity alongside NYMAZ and the production team for Rural Fest 2021
- Help build positive relations within the team and external parties
- Keep all members of the team up-to-date with relevant project information
- Work alongside the Communications Coordinator to schedule and organise meetings/events and maintain agendas
- Work alongside the Marketing Coordinator and NYMAZ to develop a communications strategy plan for Rural Fest.
- Contribute to budget decisions and travel coordination with NYMAZ support.
- Attend all Rural Fest team meetings (one a month) either online or in person

Band

Communications Officers

We have two available positions for those of you who want to develop skills in festival coordination. You will work closely with NYMAZ and all other Rural Fest team members to raise the profile of the Rural Fest and Make Music Day across the county of North Yorkshire with NYMAZ support. You will also support the Rural Fest Programme Coordinator to ensure the successful planning and implementation of Rural Fest.

We are wanting someone with strong communication and organisational skills. You must have a desire to explore and share creative ideas with your team, along with the ability to listen to others, and a drive to support young people in sharing their creative voices and signposting them to new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate with the Project Coordinator and other team members to ensure maximum efficiency
• Schedule and organise meetings/events and maintain agenda
• Take minutes at all meetings
• To develop blog content for the NYMAZ website with NYMAZ support
• Communicate with outside organisations to develop the profile of Rural Fest with NYMAZ support
• Attend all team meetings (one a month) either online or in person

Big Brass Day

Marketing Coordinators

We have two positions for this role, to develop skills and take a lead on marketing, social media and comms throughout the duration of Rural Fest programme and raise the profile of Rural Fest and Make Music Day across the county of North Yorkshire with NYMAZ support.
You will be working closely with NYMAZ Music Ambassadors and the rest of the production team to create and implement a social and comms strategy plan for this exciting festival.
We are wanting someone with good communication and organisational skills. You must have a desire to explore and share creative ideas with your team to extend the reach of Rural Fest, be able to listen to others, and want to help young people to share their voices through the creation of the first ever Rural Fest.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage communications through media relations, and social media platforms
• Work alongside NYMAZ and Rural Fest Project Coordinator to develop a communications strategy plan for Rural Fest
• Implement the communications strategy plan effectively
• Work alongside the Communications Officer to develop blog content for the NYMAZ website with NYMAZ support
• Help extend NYMAZ Ambassadors reach and interaction with young people with support from NYMAZ
• Attend all Rural Fest team meetings (one a month) either online or in person

DJ1

Music Leader – for in person or online delivery

There are multiple opportunities available, as we are wanting several young music leaders to help us build the Rural Fest programme this year! This role is for someone who wants to take a lead on the practical music-making for Rural Fest with NYMAZ support. You will be working closely with NYMAZ, NYMAZ Music Leaders, the NYMAZ Ambassadors and the rest of the production team to create and implement a range of exciting musical activities for young people.

We are wanting someone with good communication skills. You must be keen to explore, challenge and share creative ideas with NYMAZ Music Leaders and NYMAZ Ambassadors to develop a musical activity for the NYMAZ Ambassadors project during Rural Fest. You must be able to listen well to others and have a desire to develop your skills as a music leader while helping inspire and support young people to create their music.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with NYMAZ Ambassadors and NYMAZ Music Leaders to support and develop music activity/performance for Rural Fest
• Work alongside Ambassadors and NYMAZ Music Leaders to plan music sessions for the NYMAZ Ambassadors groups
• Work alongside NYMAZ and NYMAZ Music Leaders to develop your own music leadership skills during Ambassador sessions
• Deliver a workshop or session online or in person for Make Music Day – Rural Fest!
• Help build the profile of NYMAZ Ambassadors with support from NYMAZ
• Attend all Rural Fest team meetings (one a month) either online or in person

Music Journalist

There are multiple opportunities available, as we are wanting several young leaders to develop the written and interview content for Rural Fest this year. This role is for someone who wants to try their hand at music journalism, and stretch their interview, review and blogging skills throughout Rural Fest with NYMAZ support. You will be working closely with NYMAZ, Rural Fest Musicians and Artists, the NYMAZ Ambassadors and the rest of the production team to create and implement a range of exciting musical journalistic content – this can range from live interviews, vlogs, podcasts, quick fire interviews and more!

If you have a love of music and a desire to explore, challenge and share music in a journalistic format then this is for you! You must be able to listen well to others and be willing to develop your skills as a music journalist while helping inspire and support those people whose music you are sharing.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with NYMAZ Ambassadors and NYMAZ Music Leaders to support and develop music journalism content
• Work alongside the Marketing Coordinator to plan a schedule of journalistic material to help promote musicians taking part in Rural Fest 2021
• Deliver several interviews/reviews online or in person for Make Music Day – Rural Fest!
• Help build the profile of NYMAZ Ambassadors with support from NYMAZ
• Attend all Rural Fest team meetings (one a month) either online or in person

*Lighting and Sound Technicians

*This role will be taking place within either pre-recorded or live sets, and only if safe to do so with COVID-19 restrictions in place in 2021.

There are multiple opportunities available, as we are wanting several young leaders to develop their skills with sound and lighting for Rural Fest this year. This role is for someone who wants to try their hand at the technical background of any live music event, and stretch their skills throughout Rural Fest with NYMAZ support.

You will be working closely with NYMAZ, Rural Fest Musicians and Artists, the NYMAZ Ambassadors and the rest of the production team to create and implement a range of exciting musical content to a high standard – this can range from live interviews, performances, pre-recorded concerts and live-streamed events.

If you have a love of music and a desire to be part of something creative behind the scenes, then this is for you! You must be able to listen well to others and have a desire to develop your skills within sound and lighting techniques. We will be looking for someone who is organised and a problem solver!


Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with NYMAZ Ambassadors and NYMAZ Music Leaders to support and deliver live or pre-recorded content
• Work alongside the Programme Coordinator and Marketing Coordinator to plan a safe and smooth running of any logistical elements for Rural Fest 2021
• Be available to support and provide tech sound and lighting for Rural Fest events
• Help build the profile of NYMAZ Ambassadors with support from NYMAZ
• Attend all Rural Fest team meetings (one a month) either online or in person
