Sounding Out! Jazz workshops for young musicians this May Half Term

Join us for 3 days of creative music workshops for young musicians aged 10-18, led by contemporary jazz quartet Tipping Point.

Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.*

  Learn new instrumental and composition techniques
  Perform alongside Tipping Point in concert
  All abilities are welcome!

Over the May half term young musicians of all abilities are invited to join Tipping Point to explore the exciting styles of jazz and free improvisation from Selby Town Hall all for FREE!

Tipping Point features James Mainwaring on saxophone and effects alongside Matthew Bourne on Fender Rhodes; Michael Bardon on double bass and Joost Hendrickx on drums. Explore the expressive styles and vibrancy of jazz alongside the quartet, looking at the exciting and experimental sounds and textures of free jazz and improvisation!

Workshops take place 10.30am - 3.30pm each day, with a concert 7-8pm on Friday 31st May.

Places on this fantastic three day music residency are completely free. We ask that you pay £5 (plus eventbrite fee) when booking your place, to reserve one ticket to the Friday evening concert for a friend or family member. This ticket is refundable if you attend the workshops but do not require a ticket to the concert.

Additional tickets to the concert can be bought via Selby Town Hall.

The Sounding Out residency is delivered by NYMAZ working in partnership with Jazz North. With funding from Arts Council England, Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Santander Foundation.
