Testing… testing… is anyone out there?

Don’t fear, we’re still here!

Save the date, Rural Fest 2020 WILL be taking place on the 21st of June. But, in line with the uncertainty of future regulations, we’ve decided to take things digital.

Hello! We are Rural Fest 2020, an exciting new project led by a team of under 25s as part of the international celebration of music and community – Make Music Day. Our ‘Rural’ festival will be taking place within the heart of Yorkshire. Where better to explore our theme than God’s Own County?

Traditionally, the event is about bringing music into public spaces for the whole community to enjoy. However, this year our programme will be delivered virtually – beamed directly to you. All you need is an internet connection, so get your party pants on people!

Our goal is to create an open festival that engages our kaleidoscopic community. We will host a range of exciting activities, suitable for all ages. Our hope is that, whoever you are and wherever you may be, you can join us by performing yourself, or simply watching and listening. These activities and performances will be streamed to you at home through a variety of social channels. Watch us while you make a brew, or whilst brushing your teeth, even when you’re on the loo! Our daylong stream will be jam-packed with music, interviews, talks, workshops, crafting, poetry, storytelling, meditation and so much more!

Fostering community bonds and maintaining cohesion are more important now than ever. The past 3 months have brought out the very best in us, so let’s keep this momentum going! We welcome everybody and everything. Whether you’re musically inclined, tone deaf or purely a music fan – we’ll have something up your street.

Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements to follow, including an open call to artists/performers wanting to get involved. Use #RuralFest2020 and start spreading the word. We want to hear from you!

At this early stage we are still a work in progress, but if you want to know more, or be involved, feel free to get in touch. Reach us at: ruralfest@nymaz.org.uk

Watch this space!
