Rural Fest 2020 Artist Feature: Salman Toheed

This year at #RuralFest2020 we are excited to see a performance given by Salman Toheed! Toheed is new to the music scene, he is an up and coming indie singer-songwriter from Norwich. Drawing on his cultural heritage Toheed writes songs in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and English.

Toheed’s music relates to people in a unique way by drawing on his own personal experiences and the experiences of others. For example, in his 2018 EP album ‘SomePart of Me’ Toheed explains that the creative process for these songs involved interviewing six people, he then “wrote each song based around what people value the most in their lives.” – Toheed (2018).

Toheed is the Youth Ambassador of Music in Norfolk and helps young musicians to find places to perform, build their confidence and help them to express themselves and write their own songs.

His songs “Is it wrong” (from his EP album) and “Alive” made it to the top 10 Indie genre songs in Pakistan and was rated 3.6/5 by Divide and Conquer music. In 2019, Toheed performed in variety of different festivals including: Latitude, Folk-East, Jimmy’s fest, Norwich & Norfolk Festival, and the Royal Norfolk Show-ground.
